Photography

I got my first camera when I was 14 years old - a Kodak Tele-Instamatic 608. In 1980, I upgraded to a Fujica STX-1. I went from there to a Minolta XE-7, then to a Nikon FM2. I picked up a Mamiya 645 along the way. Then I switched to Digital, first with a Canon PowerShot S7, then to a Canon PowerShot G10. I went full frame with a Canon 5D Mark II, then upgraded to a 5D Mark III a few years later.

Cinematic Endeavors

I majored in Radio, Television & Film Production in the '80s. We shot on single perf 16mm film with a sound stripe. We used Bolex 16mm cameras with a three-lense turret. For external audio,  we recorded sound on Nagra Full-Track 1/4" portable tape recorders. But at the time, audio was an afterthought.

Today I shoot video with an iPhone 15 Pro Max. I record in Apple ProRes 422 HQ and Apple Log. I record audio to a four-track Tascam digital recorder. I shoot with the Blackmagic Camera app and avail myself of all the wondrous doohickery that the USB-C jack on the iPhone 15 Pro Max offers. I use an Atomos Ninja V as an external monitor, Sandmarc anamorphic and wide angle lenses, nuetral density filters, and a DJI RS3 Pro gimbal stabilizer. It's quite the rig.
